DAY 23 – A SONG THAT YOU WANT TO PLAY AT YOUR WEDDING

Choosey Lover  by Tohoshinki

Yes, you read that right. I could have chosen Can You Celebrate by Namie that just about every Jpop fan thinks is the absolute be all to end all wedding songs. But no.

I actually don’t plan on getting married…ever, but if I were, I would love to play this song at my reception. It has a really great old school RnB vibe that everyone in my family loves (Interesting tidbit: when I first fell in love with this song I let my sister listen to it and she thought it was sampled after a song by some RnB group. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but she sang the American song and it did have a very similar melody…and some of the same words, so she might be right).

I just know we all would have a good time dancing to this song .

DAY 22 – A SONG THAT YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU’RE SAD

Once again, no contest.  This is probably one of the few songs that just from hearing the beginning notes, can make my mood better in an instant. The Chunglish, Yoochun’s voice full of grease, the beat, and the best part of it all…the rap.

“MY LOVE IS BIGGER THAN GINGERBREAD MAN’S VITALITY”  Gets me to smile every time.

My GirlFriend by Micky Yoochun

DAY 21 – A SONG YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU’RE HAPPY

There is no contest. The song I have to listen to when I am immensely happy is Hold me Tight by Asian Kung Fu Generation.

Everything about this song I just love. Love to absolute bits. The Engrish is such a huge reason too. It just makes me happier than I already am, almost to the point where I’m annoying myself.

Ugh. Never fails to makes me jump and sing loudly off key with a humongous shit eating grin on my face.

I’m getting happy just typing about it.

DAY 20 – A SONG THAT YOU LISTEN TO WHEN YOU’RE ANGRY

I get angry a lot during the day. I have an extremely short temper…usually when I’m angry and I happen to have my iPod around I, more often than not, listen to Dir en Grey. Believe it or not, their music calms me down quite a bit. I know people usually will listen to very tranquil music so that they can just chill the fuck out, but I need something hard and loud to get me to lower my temper back to bearable levels. I chose The Fatal Believer by Dir en Grey simply because when I’m angry, it’s usually the first song I listen to.

DAY 19 – A SONG FROM YOUR FAVORITE ALBUM

It was a little hard choosing between I am… (Ayu) and Mars(GACKT)…to be honest I still can’t really chose which album I like better. But for this challenge I decided to go with the Mars album.

Being that it is one of  my favorite albums, I honestly love every single song on it. But the one song from this album I can never grow tired of is Emu~for my dear~ by (of course) GACKT

This song is such perfection. Every damn thing about it is just…so damn raw. Seven years after hearing it for the first time and I still listen to it on a regular basis.

Also random, but on my last ipod this song was my most played song (over 3000 plays) and now on my new ipod ,that I’ve had for the over a year, it is the third most played song (behind Beginner and Microphone)

DAY 18 – A SONG THAT YOU WISH YOU HEARD ON THE RADIO

Once again, using this based on Asian pop stars who tried to make it in the U.S.

A song I wish I heard on the radio was I Did It For Love by BoA. The whole album as a whole was lackluster imo, but she did have some good songs on it amidst all of the crap. This was one of them. I think if she could have gotten a little airplay, it could have been a good boost for her next effort.

Working on a post right now.

DAY 17 – A SONG THAT YOU HEAR OFTEN ON THE RADIO

So this can’t really apply to me for this challenge, being that I’m focusing on Asian music only and I live in the U.S. where they play no Jpop/Kpop/Cpop etc so I’m going to post a song by an Asian pop artist who tried it out in the U.S. and whose song I actually did hear on the radio…which is,

Come Back to Me by Utada Hikaru

When she first released this single, I honestly did wonder if I would ever hear her song on the radio (because I truly felt it was radio friendly and had the potential to be a big hit) and lo and behold, I was driving in the car with my cousin to Lafayette and it came on…I almost made her get into a car accident I screamed so loud lol.

I’m still pressed that that single (and album) didn’t do as well as I felt it could have.

DAY 16 – A SONG THAT YOU USED TO LOVE BUT NOW HATE

nobodyknows+ – Kokoro Odoru

This song introduced me to this amazing group but tbh, I don’t even remember how I came across it…I think I was just randomly listening to Jpop songs on Youtube and by luck came across this gem.

I was somewhat obsessed with this song. To the point where as soon as it came to mind, I had to stop what I was doing to go and listen to it.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that I “hate” it now, or even strongly dislike it; it just got to the point where I played it out and now I can barely stomach to listen to it anymore.

Have to use a Naruto Shippudden gif. Simply because so far, nobodyknows+ had the best opening for this anime.

…And AKFG gets that award for the original series of course.

DAY 15 – A SONG THAT DESCRIBES YOU

I was really stumped on this day because, I had no idea how I could find one song that describes me.

…In the end, it came down to three songs (two Ayu songs and a GACKT song. Predictable right?). Even though I’m only supposed to list one, in the end I could only dwindle it down to two.

These two songs describe exactly how I feel at this time in my life.

…I’m an individual filled with angst.

A Song For XX ”030213 Session #2” by Ayumi Hamasaki (lyrics trans)

Lapis by GACKT (lyrics trans)

The other song was Real Me.

Half way through the challenge~

DAY 14 – A SONG THAT NO ONE WOULD EXPECT YOU TO LOVE

I listen to my music loud. Whether it’s while using my headphones or listening to it while driving…it’s always loud. I also don’t care who is riding with me, I’m going to listen to whatever the hell I want to, even if it makes you uncomfortable.

Now, If I was using simply American music…I would have to say that Hip-Hip songs are usually the ones that people would not expect me to love (I’m not talking about Soulja Boy type of Hip-Hop…I’m talking NWA type songs) but I do love them.

As for Asian music…I’d probably say… anything that has Screamo in it. (this, I guess could pertain to American music too).

So here is a song from, what has become my favorite Visual-Kei band, The GazettE.
