Yes. Yes, I am still alive.
Initially I took a break from blogging simply because it got to the point where I was so busy I couldn’t even think about this blog. Then when I did want to blog I had absolutely no idea what to talk about being that I don’t take the time out to watch PVs or PV previews or anything like that anymore.
Anyway, I probably won’t be doing my usual types of posts anytime soon (Sorry~), so I figure doing a SOTM post every two weeks or so would have to suffice. That way I can still rave about the songs and artists that I’m loving without all of the extra hassle that usually went into making other posts. With that said, this will be a three part SOTM post. I’ll try and post one every day, but I make no promises.
The final part of my Favorite Songs of 2011 series. I actually can’t believe I actually got it done before the new year lmao. But here it is. Enjoy.
Untitled~for Her~ by Ayumi Hamasaki
This song is a song that no matter when I listen to it, can make me tear up. It is a tribute to her best friend who died. and for me it touches me because the words she wrote about her friend are the same way I felt about a cousin of mine who died.
I had a cousin who was a few years older than me, but we grew up and did everything together and when she hit about 15, she got into some things that weren’t necessarily good for her and we just stopped comunicating all together. Anyway, needless to say, when she was 17 she got into a car accident and lost her life. Every time I think about it, I feel guilty because I actually saw her two weeks before she died and I just kind shoved her off not really caring to talk to her and then that happened. I couldn’t even go to her funeral because it was too hard for me. Listening to this song and remembering how we were so close and me not being in her life the way I wished I was (too late) makes me feel really guilty and I feel an immense amount of regret as well.
I’m so bored right now, so I decided to do a post on Ayu and JUNO’s song, Why…
First let me just say, when a small preview of the song was featured in a CM, I had said that Juno sounded extremely off-key…and I want to take that back. Juno actually didn’t sound half bad, but his voice was really weak/strained to me during the verses or maybe he was just trying to make his voice sound soft? Either way, it didn’t translate well in the song imo. Especially when you put him next to Ayu, who can project her voice really well no matter what range she sings in. She really ended up overpowering him in this song, which I wasn’t expecting.
The chorus though… like I said before, is a hot mess. I just don’t think their voices mesh well together. I will say though, that after listening to it a few times you get used to how they sound together. I put more blame on Ayu though. Girl does not change her voice at all to complement anyone else lol She just sings how she wants to. I’ve realized that, listening to the few songs she sings with other artists. Either it works or it doesn’t. That “harmonizing” at 3:04 is a great example of that. It was horrible.
Now as for the song itself, I actually really like it, shockingly enough. I’m shocked because I wasn’t expecting to like it at all. The melody is different from the usual mid-tempo ballad Ayu usually does and it really gives me a 90’s Jpop ballad feel for some reason.
Out of the three songs we’ve heard so far, this is the order I would rank them.
3 – Beloved
2 – Why…
1 – Progress (This song has really grown on me.)
They aren’t scanned but here are a few pics of the PVs that she recently showed on her deji deji diary in ViVi.
ANother Song ft. Urata Naoya
…But when are the PVs going to start airing? I really want to see them. Oddly, enough the pv I’m most excited to see is the PV for Progress.
So after much thought, I’ve decided to make a new twitter account. Here is the link: HERE if you want to follow me. I also put a link in the side bar. I will of course follow everyone back.
I haven’t tweeted anything yet, I’ll begin tweeting when I get a few followers…
Decided to use my other twitter account that I’ve been tweeting on for quite a few days. So here is that one: HERE if you want to follow me.
Like I said before, I’ll follow everyone who follows back.
Anyway, here is the post. It’s pretty straight to the point. Not much rambling. I’m just too tired and stressed, trying to get all of this shit together before I move.
Went shopping today, and I bought this cream colored top. My boobs look a-mazing in it (TMI I know, but I was so excited when I realized it). The funny thing is, that’s the only article of clothing I bought when I went shopping. Everything else I bought from Sephora.
I need to stop wasting money on make-up. But I wear it all the time, so I run out of things quickly D:
ANYWAY, onto the post
Wow, how long has it been since I did a legit post?
So, what’s been going on with me? Besides the whole situation with my dad, next week I’ll be making that big move to Houston!
Excited but sad…and a bit anxious. Also, since the last time I’ve did a full post, I’ve gotten my priorities straight and really decided to change some things that I realized I didn’t like (to myself, the people in my life, my situation, my “internet life” etc). It was time.
Anyway, enough of that.
Only two topics. Going through all of the news and shizz there wasn’t much I was really interested in talking about.
Onto the post.
I was really stumped on this day because, I had no idea how I could find one song that describes me.
…In the end, it came down to three songs (two Ayu songs and a GACKT song. Predictable right?). Even though I’m only supposed to list one, in the end I could only dwindle it down to two.
These two songs describe exactly how I feel at this time in my life.
…I’m an individual filled with angst.

Lapis by GACKT (lyrics trans)
The other song was Real Me.
Half way through the challenge~
Back home in Louisiana. Glad to see my babies(my dogs), but I’m missing Florida already.
For people who live in the U.S., I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I feel so bad because I did a post on the 4th and forgot to wish Jin and especially GACKT a happy birthday. 27 and 38….wow. (and Canadians too! Canada’s independence day was like a week before right?)
Bought a shit ton of stuff while I was there…I’m so broke right now. Gonna have to wait until next week to order Ayu’s mini-album.
This post ended up being a little longer than I wanted it to be, because I ended up rambling on the Namie section. Blegh. Sorry.
Close to You by Ayumi Hamasaki
I like all of Ayu’s songs. Really I do. Some I may like more than others, but I do like/love them all.
This song is one that I actually really like, but it’s not a song you can just listen to at any moment…It’s so relaxing it’s borderline boring, so the only time I really listen to it is when I’m about to sleep or if I feel like daydreaming.
LOL at some people on Arama being pressed that Ayu is higher up on the ballad singers list than their faves.
(Meanwhile, I’m just happy Ayu’s on the list. Since people love calling her a flop nowadays…)
